How to check your breasts
Because Self-Care Starts with You

At D’braz, we believe feeling good in your body starts with confidence, comfort, and care. Taking a few minutes to check your breasts regularly is one of the most powerful things you can do for your health — and it only takes the time it takes to get changed.
What to Look For
When you know what’s normal for you, it’s easier to notice when something changes. Check your breasts, chest, and armpits regularly and look for:
- Lumps or Thickening: A new lump or area that feels different from the rest of your breast.
- Swelling: Any swelling in part of your breast, around your collarbone, or under your arm.
- Bloody Discharge: Any fluid or blood from the nipple.
- Lumps in the Armpit: Check under your arms for any unusual bumps or swelling.
- Dimpling: Skin that looks puckered or uneven.
- Skin Rash or Thickening: Redness, rashes, or skin changes around the breast or nipple.
- Nipple Inversion: If your nipple suddenly turns inward or changes shape.
- Unusual Pain: Persistent pain or tenderness that feels different for you.
- Colour Change: Any changes in the colour of your skin or nipple.
When to Check
Try to check once a month — perhaps when you’re getting dressed, moisturising, or putting on your lingerie. The key is consistency and getting to know what’s normal for your body.
If You Notice a Change
Don’t panic — most changes aren’t cancer. But it’s always best to get them checked. Speak to your doctor or nurse as soon as possible. Early diagnosis makes a real difference.
A Little Reminder
Checking your breasts isn’t about worry — it’s about self-love. Knowing your body and caring for it is an act of confidence.
